Our Background
Community Empowerment and Development Action (CEDA) is a Non-Governmental, Non-Political and Non-Profit Seeking National NGO based in Gedo and Bay Regions and has its Main office in Dollow town and Sub-offices in Mogadishu, Kismayu and Nairobi. It supports Relief, Rehabilitation and Development Programs in South and Central Region of Somalia. Our primary goal is to empower the IDP and the local community in Gedo region on resilience and reconstruction of programmes in community development including Health, Nutrition, Child Protection and Gender Based violence while at the same time build resilience against disaster and emergencies with capacity to respond.
After years of consultation and discussion on intervention strategies to empower the community and improve the social change on the lives of people, and having noted the challenges experienced in the district with the past relief interventions. A group of concerned community stakeholders in consultation with the community members formed the (Community Empowerment And Development Action) as a community development oriented organization to implement and carry out intervention activities in order to empower the local communities to be resilient to socio-economic challenges while at the same time linking them with the outside world in a two way dialogue forum so as to develop and come up with solutions on community development interventions. CEDA was registered as an organization in (2002) with its head offices in Dollow town of Gedo Region, South Central Somalia.

OUR OBJECTIVES
CEDA aims to foster a sustainable and equitable development by assisting communities to properly identify their development needs and match those needs with available resources (human, technical, financial, material and natural) Primary CEDA objectives include:
- To promote primary health care for under five children.
- To reduce malnutrition of vulnerable children and pregnant lactating women.
- To reduce malnutrition cases among children security.
- To facilitate the community with health support and services.
- To promote child rights and right of child participation.
- To improve the livelihood of IDP community.
- Promote the right to education and development of children.
- Promote resilience and rehabilitation programs among the IDPs populations.
- To improve the maternal health for pregnant lactating women.
- To provide medical health services to build on resilience of the community.
- To promote awareness on Gender based violence among the community.
- To sensitize on rights of the girl child against traditional vices and exploitation.
