BASIC/GENERAL HEALTH CARE

With the consultative support from stakeholders CEDA health center has provided basic health care with the provision of basic drugs and supplies from our health partners like World Vision Somalia and UNICEF Somalia. Through the support of this partners CEDA provides daily consultation to patients and issues drugs to beneficiaries through its pharmacy in the health center by operating an adult consultation clinic and a separate under (< 5 year) clinic for children.

Maternal Child health Services (MCH)

Under its health intervention project (CEDA) health Center in Dollow town provides basic Maternal clinical Care services including (Ante-natal and neo-natal care)services for pregnant women who include the IDPs community in Dollow district. Consultation services are provided to help pregnant women with safe delivery and provision of counselling from qualified midwifes and health staffs working in the CEDA health center. Delivery services are offered for free to pregnant women at the health center under the (CEDA) maternity ward, upon delivery the (mother and child) are entitled to a nutritional food ration package to help them with full recovery.

Under the integrated Mother Child health and nutrition programme (MCHN) programme, CEDA provides nutritional services to pregnant women to improve the health status of mothers before delivery of their children in the health center. The (MCHN) intervention enables women to deliver children in the maternity and therefor avoiding delivery cases at home which may raise birth complications. Through the commitment of CEDA in providing basic health support for mothers in Dollow district the entire community has benefited immensely with support from international donors and grants like made to CEDA partners who include World Vision Somalia and UNICEF Somalia.

TB health consultation

CEDA health Centre provides health consultation services under the TB health program that is being supported and funded by World Vision Somalia under the Global Fund Program. Through CEDA TB health clinic patients are screened for TB infections through the gene machine which is provided to determine the infection cases. Upon confirmation the patients are immediately admitted under the routine treatment with provision of free treatment drugs that is offered on weekly basis. The patient is monitored under the attendance registers to reduce defaulters in treatment cycle.

Clinical services are offered to TB patients on a daily basis at CEDA health Centre to check on their developing progress with the consultation from the TB clinic. The patients who are admitted receive treatment with consultation and recommendations from health staffs that are assigned with the task of issuing treatment and ensuring that patient completes the cycle of drugs until the period of recovery.

NUTRITION PROJECT

OTP

Malnutrition continues to be an uphill health concern in Dollow district which comes under CEDAs area of operation. Under the nutrition program CEDA has conducted a number of interventions for the (under 5 years) whereby children have benefited from the intervention. In coordination with UNICEF as the nutrition partner CEDA provides outpatient therapeutic (OTP) services to IDP children mainly in Kabasa and Qanshaley IDP Camps with children who may fall under the category of malnourished cases while at the same time keeping track of the child progress. CEDA operates three fixed (OTP sites) which offer consultation to the beneficiary children with admission services. The CEDA health center also provides follow up services to malnourished cases by providing medical treatment to complicated cases and also makes follow follow up to severely malnourished cases.

TSFP/BSFP

Under the emergency response programme CEDA with support from World Food Programme (WFP) has committed itself to provide Targeted supplementary food programme under the integrated nutrition intervention for children.The programme has been geared towards the support of the (Moderate Acute Malnourished) MAM children who are discharged from (OTP) sites operating in Kabasa and Qansahley IDPs Camps in Dollow town. The programme which is funded by WFP ensures the basic nutrition services for children is available to support the child recovery from malnutrition status.

Mother Child Health and Nutrition

MCHN encompasses the emergency response programme under (WFP) which has committed itself to support PLW with (E-vegetable) food services under the integrated Food distribution to reduce malnutrition among pregnant women. The programme has been geared towards the support of the (PLWs) in Dollow town for the IDP population in Dollow town. Which harbor two IDPs camps namely Kabasa IDP and Qanshley IDPs Camp respectively. The programme is geared towards upholding the nutrition status of women and their standard of livelihood during pregnancy in the most vulnerable regions of Somalia. The Progamme looks at providing a food monthly ration to Pregnant lactating women with an added scope fund of $15 dollars per month to cater for the limited access of food for women in Dollow district
